Olav helped me file a provisional a few months ago. There were a few attorneys that I spoke to at the time but ended up choosing Olav because I really liked his technical background which allowed him to understand fully what the patent was about. I am quite satisfied with the work that Mr. Underdal did for me which included consolidating my notes and technical drawings, going back and forth several times with amendments then submitting a final, polished provisional patent application - all at a very agreeable, 'no-surprises','package' price.

Before choosing Mr. Underdal, I interviewed several 'top name' patent firms as well as a local, sole proprietor patent attorney. Even the vetting stage with these options was a disappointment to me. Responses to my queries were disappointing - either dilatory or incomplete or both. Remarkably, the one constant, was that no one would actually promise concrete results for their $500+ per hour. For example, no one would warrant that a 'prior art' search would actually locate pertinent prior art, however, they would all be willing to represent me, at their customary rates, from any difficulties I might face should they have missed anything, even something obvious. If they misunderstood my directives such that their would would need to be amended, they would be happy to do so, at their customary rates, plus of course, copy fees and assistant fees. The 'best' ballpark anyone would give me what the entire patent process might cost was $25K in legal fees, but this was only a 'to begin with', who knows.

I'm not about to hand over my ATM pin code to any vendor who has a five hundred dollar an hour incentive to take a lot of time to do something.

Of course, in some situations it's prudent not to skimp.

That being said, in most situations, the wise choice is to carefully research what you want to pay to have someone do for you, and select someone who has demonstrated that they do very good, very professional work, quickly and attentively. If that person charges an exceptionally rate, well, then take the money you saved and go to Hawaii - five or six times.
